One of Khanfar’s favourite portraits is that of his good friend Gene Rainbolt, legendary Oklahoma banker and philanthropist.
“Rainbolt and I have been friends for a long time,” Khanfar said. “He is probably one of the most generous people I have ever met in my entire life. He is constantly raising money for non-profit organizations of all kinds, for the arts, for the youth and the city”

STUDIO

A photographic studio is both a workspace and a corporate body. As a workspace it is much like an artist’s studio, but providing space to take, develop, print and duplicate photographs. Photographic training and the display of finished photographs may also be accommodated in a photographic studio. Accordingly, the workspace may possess a darkroom, storage space, a studio proper - where photographs are taken, and a display room, as well as space for other related work.
As a corporate entity, a photographic studio is a business owned and represented by one or more photographers, possibly accompanied by assistants and pupils, who create and sell their own and sometimes others’ photographs.
Since the early years of the 20th century the corporate functions of a photographic studio have increasingly been called a “photographic agency,” leaving the term “photographic studio” to refer almost exclusively to the workspace.

Today many studios have sprung up to serve the ever growing media industry. Some of these studios have a resident photographer others operate mainly as a space for hire. An example of a photo studio for hire in London is Dizzy finch Studios in Wharf Rd near Old Street.Today many studios have sprung up to serve the ever growing media industry. Yousuf Karsh is an example of a studio portrait photographer; Yousuf was born in Mardin a city in Turkey.   He grew up during the Armenian Genocide where he wrote, "I saw relatives massacred; my sister died of starvation as we were driven from village to village." At the age of 16, his parents sent Yousuf to live with his uncle George Nakash, a photographer in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Karsh briefly attended school there and assisted in his uncle’s studio. Nakash saw great potential in his nephew and in 1928 arranged for Karsh to apprentice with portrait photographer John Garo in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. His brother, Malak Karsh, was also a photographer famous for the image of logs floating down the river on the Canadian one dollar bill. Yousuf was a master of studio lights.

Here are some examples of Yousuf's work

location research

This image was taken by Liz Callan on December 31, 2009. This image is in a lot better focus than mine but darker, the image I took was lighter than this. Liz has taken the image a lot closer than mine and in a better angel.
This is the image I took quite similar to the one above; my image has a lot more lighting and is further away. The reason why I like this image is because you can see the waterfall in the background.

Location research

This image is by Dainis Derics; they took a good angle and got the full building including the waterfall. This image is better than mine because it’s got the full picture whereas mine only has half. This image is taken in Victoria Square in Birmingham city centre. The time the picture was taken was very quiet and no rush so it was a good time because the focus was on the image itself and not on the people.

This is the image that I have taken, as you can see it’s not got the full picture as the one above. I didn't get the full building or the waterfall and the focus and lighting wasn't as good.

Location research

This image was taken by the virtual tourist, I have taken a similar image and I also edited it. They have taken a clear angle and better focus than I did.  This is in Victoria square city centre Birmingham, where the library, museum and the Birmingham council house. This was also further than my image; my image was a close up.

This picture was taken by Graham Taylor, who is a retired government officer. Graham Taylor has been doing Photography for over 50 years now and has thousands of pictures over the UK. This image is similar to the image I took. When I took the same image the Bull was decorated and has its own garden whereas when Graham took the image it was plain and normal. I think Graham has taken a better angle than I did. The lighting is very nice and the background is very clear. Graham took a close up of the Bull, but I took it from a far. Which is why I think his image is in better focus and has a better angle.

This is the image I have taken as you can see its from a far angle and has its own little garden.

STUDIO

I used a canon camera. Shutter speed 1/250 sec. Exposure program: manual and aperture value: F/5.6.

like this image because of its style, hair style and how her arms are on her waist.
no flash was used when taking this image.

I do not like this Image because it is to dark and and the lighting is very weak.

I like this image because the pose and lighting in this image is quite good.

LOCATION

This picture is also taken in Victoria Square, by the waterfall. I am going to edit this picture in HDR.

This is the image after editing, I HDR the image and this is my result.

location

This statue is also in Victoria Square, I took this image because I thought it would be good to edited. I took it in this angle to show all the features in detail.

This is the image after editing, I have made it brighter and sharper to make its detail stand out.

Location

This is after I have edited it in Photomatix.

location

This is the waterfall outside the council house in Birmingham near the central library, i like the details in the shots of every drop and how the water is falling this is why i took this shot in this angle. I used a cannon camera. This waterfall is located in Victoria square outside the council house. I will be editing this image to bring out its details.

I edited this image and added a glow to it in Photoshop.

This is the Bull in the Bullring centre, a lot of tourists who come to Birmingham come to this spot to take pictures with this Bull. This has attracted many people and now it has its own garden and has been decorated. The Bull Ring is a major commercial area of Birmingham, It has been an important feature of Birmingham since the Middle Ages, when its market was first held. Two shopping centres have been built in the area; in the 1960s, and then in 2003; the latter is styled as one word, Bullring. I like the angle I took this picture in because it shows the front features and everything behind especially the angry look on the Bull's face. I will be editing this picture in Photoshop to make it stand out.

This is the statue in the water outside the council house in Birmingham, the reason why I took the image in this angle is so I could get the front and in detail. A lot of tourists come to Birmingham and take pictures of this statue and its surroundings’ intend to edit this image in Photomatix. So this is before editing.

After editing, I edited this image on Photomatix. I made it a strong and sharp image and toned it smoothly

location

Birmingham City Council House in Birmingham.  England is the home of Birmingham City Council. It provides office accommodation for both employed council officers, including the Chief Executive and elected council members plus the council chamber, Lord Mayor’s Suite, committee rooms and a large and ornate banqueting suite, complete with minstrels gallery. The first-floor's exterior balcony is used by visiting dignitaries and victorious sports teams, to address crowds assembled below.
It is located in Victoria Square in the city centre and is a Grade II* listed building (Birmingham Town Hall is a separate building, built and used as a concert venue, and is of greater architectural significance, being listed Grade I.) The Council House has its own postcode, B1 1BB.
The side of the building, which faces Chamberlain Square, is the entrance and façade of the Museum and Art Gallery, which is partly housed within the same building.

The open space which is now Victoria Square (containing a water feature and steps) was once occupied by Christ Church (built 1805–13, demolished 1899 to be replaced by shops and offices – the Christ Church Buildings, themselves demolished 1970).

I took this image from the front to show the whole building including the waterfall and statue, personally i could have done better by getting the top part into the image to show a clear picture.
